Nitrogen and phosphorus are essential for all forms of life. Impacts associated to the N and P use exceed the carrying capacity of our planet. Therefore, the EU has declared an urgent need to reinvent the farm-to-fork value chain, with focus on the reuse of N and P. Flanders is a nutrient-intensive region with a large potential for N and P reuse. My goal is to apply an interdisciplinary approach, combining environmental systems analyses, engineering, and socio-economics, to understand and support decisions towards a circular management of N and P.
