I am an economic historian with a particular interest in the development credit markets and the people or firms using them. I obtained a PhD in Economic history at Utrecht University with a dissertation on the politics of small firm financing in the Netherlands, 1900-1980. Currently, I am working in the project "The Social History of Finance", specifically on the development of notarial credit markets in the larger Antwerp region between 1835 and 1900. Side projects include 1930s credit crunch, historical SME guarantee funds and savings banks in Belgium and the Netherlands 1860-1940.
