I work with the unseen in three ways: there are the many different bacteria, only visible through a microscope. Then, their electric properties -after all, we can't see electricity/electrons - and thirdly, how this is encoded in their D/RNA and how it ends up as proteins. This circus of unseen things is knitted together by complex interactions between the bacteria that revolve around eating and breathing.
