Exchange students Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences has Erasmus+ agreements with numerous universities in Europe to exchange students in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy.
The information on this page will help you to prepare your exchange programme.
I only want to take courses (study)
General conditions
- Bilateral agreement: a valid bilateral (or multilateral) agreement between your university and the University of Antwerp or between your Faculty and ours is required.
- Academic career: you are enrolled in a Bachelor programme in rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy, or you have already obtained your bachelor degree in rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy.
- Language skills: you must have a good command of English, oral as well as written (min. CEFR level B2).
- Duration: one semester or a full academic year.
Study programme
In case you haven't obtained your bachelor degree yet, then you can pick courses from our bridging programme.
In case you already have obtained a bachelor degree in rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy, then you have to choose courses of Model Path 1 (year 1) of our Master of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy. Please note that in this case you can only choose courses that are taught during the first semester (autumn semester). We do not offer theoretical courses during the second semester (spring semester).
Contact our Internationalisation Officer to discuss your study programme and don't forget: taking exams is mandatory! Exams are organised in January (courses of autumn semester) and June (courses of spring semester).

Deadlines
- Nominations: 15 April (1st semester/full year) & 15 October (2nd semester)

I only want to do a clinical internship
General conditions
- Bilateral agreement: a valid bilateral (or multilateral) agreement between your university and the University of Antwerp, or between your Faculty and ours, is required. In this agreement, student mobility for traineeships should be clearly mentioned.
- Academic career: you are enrolled in a Bachelor programme in rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy (at least 3rd year), or you have already obtained your bachelor degree in rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy.
- Language skills: you must have a good command of English, oral as well as written (min. level B2), and a thorough knowledge of medical English. Dutch language courses are recommended, but not essential.
- Duration: 8 weeks, preferably during the first semester (autumn semester).
Clinical internship
We can only offer internships of 8 weeks. These are full-time (5 days/week; 8 hours/day; 13 ECTS or 4 days/week; 8 hours/day; 10 ECTS) and preferably organised during the autumn semester (September - December).

- Applications: 15 May (1st semester/full year/2nd semester)
Before your arrival in Antwerp
Before you can start your internship in Antwerp you need to have following documents:
- a medical attest stating you are in good health;
- the results of a recent Intradermo test/Mantoux test (preferably less than 1 year old);
- proof of full COVID-19 vaccination;
- the results of a blood analysis to prove you are vaccinated against hepatitis B.
I want to combine courses with a clinical internship

- Bilateral agreement: a valid bilateral (or multilateral) agreement between your university and the University of Antwerp, or between your Faculty and ours is required. In this agreement student mobility for traineeships should be clearly mentioned.
- Academic career: you are enrolled in a Bachelor programme in rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy.
- Language skills: you must have a good command of English, oral as well as written (min. level B2), and a thorough knowledge of medical English. Dutch language courses are recommended, but not essential.
- Duration: you should stay for at least one full semester.
Clinical internship
The clinical internship lasts 8 weeks and is part-time (4 days/week; 10 ECTS). You are exempted from the internship for one day per week in order to attend classes (see below).
