Life under siege
War does not only bring death and destruction; it forces people to find ways to live within its chaos. These images capture daily survival—standing in line for water or a mother crossing front lines for a brief reunion with her son. These moments reveal how civilians adapted to war, trying to maintain some form of normalcy despite the constant threat of violence.
The abandoned piano and the painted murals on rubble also symbolize the resilience of culture, even as war attempts to erase it. Mario Boccia shows that war is not only about soldiers and battles but also about normal people who do not let suffering control their lives. They show human strength and the courage of those who keep going, even when their city is under attack.
