Beta Gamma Sigma

International honor society for students with outstanding academic results

Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) is the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International.

Since 2016, we have organized an annual Recognition Ceremony in November in collaboration with James Madison University. FBE and JMU students who are admitted to Beta Gamma Sigma receive their certificates together during this event.

Benefits

Lifetime membership is the most significant benefit of Beta Gamma Sigma. With more than 600 collegiate chapters on 6 continents, Beta Gamma Sigma established itself as the biggest and fastest growing organisation of its kind worldwide.

The member network is a rich source of knowledge for students and alumni. A complete list of additional benefits, e.g. BGS career services, discounts to magazine subscriptions, etc. are available on the Beta Gamma Sigma website.

Selection criteria

Beta Gamma Sigma membership is offered by the faculty to final-year master’s students who belong to the top 10% of their bachelor’s cohort. An additional requirement is that the bachelor’s degree must have been completed within the standard study trajectory.

The selection takes place at the beginning of the academic year. Students in a one-year master’s program receive their invitation at the start of that academic year, directly after obtaining their bachelor’s degree. Students in a two-year master’s program receive their invitation at the start of their second master’s year.
