Each year the Francqui Foundation attributes Francqui Chairs to Belgian universities. In that way national or international Professors can be invited as guest lecturers. This academic year the Department of Chemistry of the University of Antwerp honored Prof. Bert Weckhuyzen  (Utrecht University) with the Francqui Chair. Promotor of the University of Antwerp is Prof. Bert Maes.

The Faculty of Science of the University of Antwerp organizes the inaugural lecture on 23 April 2025 followed by a series of classes of excellences.

We are pleased to invite you to Professor Bert Weckhuyzen’s inaugural lecture entitled ‘Towards a Circular Society: Dreams Become Reality with Catalysis’ on the occasion of his appointment as Francqui Research Professor.
