FSW Connects...
... with you!
"FSW Connects" connects societal themes with inspiring personal stories. We break down the walls around the faculty and provide a platform for compelling speakers from outside the academic world. We address burning current topics that resonate with the students' daily lives.
We organize events for both students and staff, with input from our student group. These are not just ordinary academic events; no, these events are designed in a slightly different way, featuring lectures, debates, film screenings, discussions, and more. In short, FSW Connects allows for a more relaxed atmosphere. We provide our engaged students with the opportunity to develop captivating activities with support from the faculty.
Starting from 2020, in collaboration with 'Nuff Said, FSW Connects hosts a free Lunch Talk series, four times a year. These Lunch Talks focus on an international artist from the world of comedy, literature, or music. The emphasis is on the personal and professional story of the guest speaker and how it unfolds against the backdrop of significant societal themes and events such as migration, polarization, and (international) conflicts.
Are you curious about how an Iraqi-Canadian rapper became the first-ever professor to teach about hip-hop at a university? Do you want to learn more about how a Palestinian professor of international politics combines her academic career with a career as a poet and human rights activist? Do you want to broaden your horizons and immerse yourself in an engaging story for an hour? Come and be inspired by our unconventional guest speakers.
The Lunch Talks take place in the De Meerminne building (or another building on the City Campus) between 12 pm and 1 pm. Free lunch is included on a 'first come, first serve' basis.
