Departmental Boards
As indicated by the faculty's name, research in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences is divided into three departments:
- Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Department of Biomedical Sciences
- Department of Veterinary Sciences.
Each department is directed by a Departmental Board.
Composition and competences
The Departmental Boards are made up of all the department's full-time Tenured Academic Personnel and representatives of the part-time Tenured Academic Personnel, Assistant and Non-Statutory Academic Personnel and Administrative and Technical Personnel. The Departmental Boards elect a chair and vice-chair from among their members.
Competences
The Departmental Boards are primarily responsible for all research-related matters. Their most important tasks relate to the creation of research units and to internal quality assessments of research. The Departmental Boards also play an important role in the doctoral studies: they accept candidates, determine the programme, appoint supervisors, assemble doctoral commissions, monitor the progress of PhDs and choose the exam jury. Finally, they are also responsible for all financial and HR-related matters within the departments: they draw up budgets, announce job vacancies and assign tasks.
