Mobility window
The Mobility Window offers you the chance to participate in a research stay within an existing project at one of IOB’s partner universities in the Global South.
🌏 This unique opportunity allows you to:
✅ Apply your knowledge of research methods in real-world settings.
✅ Develop valuable intercultural skills.
✅ Gain hands-on field research experience outside Belgium.
The research stay lasts 5-6 weeks, from mid-November to the Christmas break, wrapping up Module I.
The current South partners for Mobility window are:

Community-Based Monitoring programme in Tanzania!
As part of the Local Institutions and Poverty Reduction course, IOB offers a 6-week CBM subunit at Mzumbe University, Tanzania.
You will:
- Learn through theoretical courses, skills labs, and action labs.
- Work with Tanzanian and Ugandan peers in a collaborative environment.
- Build research and presentation skills in a global context.
This program runs from late April to early May and is open to students who apply and are selected.

Dissertation mobility
The dissertation mobility frames within Module IV dissertation and enables students to do fieldwork for their dissertation. Module IV runs from mid-June to the end of August but the fieldwork is limited to 6 weeks starting from mid-June.
Students can apply for a travel grant, covering a return ticket to the country of destination. Selection for the travel grant is based on the research question and methodology, literature review, relevance and feasibility of the fieldwork, involvement of a local partner and academic performance of the student.
Students can either fully choose their local partner (if any) or apply to be involved in an existing research project at one of IOB’s partners in the South:
