On 14 September 2022, IOB and the Province of Antwerp hosted the graduation ceremony for students of the academic year 2021-2022.

The Province of Antwerp has been awarding its yearly 'Prizes for Global Research' since 1996. With these prizes, the Province stimulates research with regards to the Global South. The prizes are awarded for different themes, such as economics, political science, culture, environment, health, etc. 

The prizes are awarded to students of IOB, the University of Antwerp and the Institute for Tropical Medicine.
