An institutional interdisciplinary
cooperation is setup between the university of Bahir Dar (Ethiopia) and the
Flemish universities on an interdisciplinary range of research topics in Northwest
Ethiopia: land resilience, hydrogeology, postharvest and food processing, aquatic
ecology and water-borne diseases and socio-economic development. The university
of Antwerp leads the research on the socio-economic aspects of agriculture and
environmental management. This project supports the transition to a climate
resilient green economy in Northwest Ethiopia. About 20 PhD students work on
phase 1 of this project, across the Flemish universities. The
project is coordinated by Ghent University.
