What is an entry test?

An entry test consists of a written test and an oral test to help us check your level. The entry test is included in the course fee.

Can I choose my level?

You may not choose your level:

  • if you are a new Linguapolis student, even if you already have some knowledge of the language through previous study or experience;
  • if your Linguapolis certificate was issued more than a year ago.

In these cases, you will need to take an entry test.

When do I get practical info about the entry test & where can I find it?

You will receive the practical info and instructions about the entry test in the confirmation email, immediately after registering for a language course (with entry test!).

Why do I need to take an entry test?

The entry test ensures that you start at a level suitable for you.You will need to take an entry test if you are a new student who already has some knowledge of the language or if your Linguapolis certificate was issued more than a year ago.

When do I need to take the entry test?

The dates for the written and oral parts of the entry test depend on the language you choose and when the course takes place. When you enrol you will receive detailed information about the entry test.

Can I take an entry test without enrolling for a course afterwards?

No, the entry test is included in the enrolment fee and therefore linked to enrolment. You cannot take the entry test on its own.

How do I indicate on the enrolment form that I have to take an entry test?

In the list of available courses, choose the course that says 'intake'. The course code always ends with a ?

Do I have to take an entry test even if I have hardly any prior knowledge?

Even if you have very little prior knowledge, it might be useful to take an entry test. This way you are sure to start in the level most suitable for you. It is not possible to take an entry test or to change levels once the course has started. An entry test is certainly advisable if you learnt the language a long time ago or if you haven’t spoken the language for years (for example, if you did French or German at secondary school). Of course, it makes no sense to take an entry test if you can remember only a few words or phrases. Try not to overestimate or underestimate your abilities here. If you are still in doubt, it is best to take the entry test.

I have a certificate from another language school. Do I still need to do an entry test?

Yes, the entry test is part of our quality approach and is compulsory. Based on the oral and written entry test, we can guarantee that you will take lessons in the level most suitable for you.

How long does the result of the entry test remain valid?

The result of the entry test remains valid for one year.

What if I am busy on the course day(s) I was assigned to?

During your entry test you mention to your language adviser which days you are not available. If your classes happen to take place on those days, your enrolment fee will be refunded. The €35 fee for your entry test will not be refunded, however.
