Zonta Antwerp joins forces with the University of
Antwerp Fund
The overall mission and vision of the ‘Zonta Antwerp’ service club, which has a strong regional and international presence, is to empower women. Their objective? “Improving and strengthening the status of women in various domains of society”, says chairwoman Martine de Clercq.
The club aims to reach this goal by putting value on three essential pillars of the University of Antwerp: education, research and service to society. In 2021, they joined forces with the University of Antwerp Fund, resulting in the ‘Zonta Antwerp Fund’ which will focus on these three pillars. In previous years, Zonta Antwerp already supported UAntwerp’s Tutoraat project. In addition, the club is featured in the ‘Today, Let’s Care About Tomorrow’ campaign of the University of Antwerp Fund.
One-year scholarship
The Zonta Antwerp Fund will grant a one-year scholarship to a female student from the Middle East to come and study at the University of Antwerp.
“Within the context of Zonta’s overall vision and mission, the recently established ‘Zonta Antwerp Fund’ grants a one-year scholarship to the ‘Daughters for Life’ project. This project wants to offer young women from the Middle East – quite an affected area – the opportunity to study at the University of Antwerp and to develop into ambassadors of human values”, says Martine de Clercq. ‘Daughters for Life’ was founded by dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, who received an honorary degree for General Merit on 30 March 2021 at the University of Antwerp.

Step 1 - Donation
There are two ways to donate:
- By bank transfer to bank account number BE42 7310 4624 7854 in the name of 'Universiteit Antwerpen'. Be sure to mention 'fiscaal attest' (tax certificate) and your preferred destination, in this case: 'Fonds Zonta Antwerpen', in the communication field.
- By online payment, where you can indicate your preferred destination straight away.
Step 2 - Donation form
In order to allocate your donation correctly, we recommend you to also send us the donation form where you indicate your preference for the destination of the amount again.
Send the filled in form:
