Partners 2022 - ...
In 2019, the Dennie Lockefeer Chair was established in memory of Dennie Lockefeer. After three years, we are pleased to announce that - together with the partners listed below (*08/04/2024) - the Chair continues.
Words of golden partners
“As the market leader in logistics real estate investments in Belgium, we believe it is our duty to think about all themes that impact our society. Supporting qualitative research into a much more intensive use of our waterways fits in perfectly with this and will, in our opinion, lead to an actual shift. Therefore, we are happy to make financial resources and our expertise available to this chair.” Peter Demuynck, Montea
“With Dennie Lockefeer, the Vlaamse Waterweg nv lost a major ally and advocate of inland shipping. With knowledge of the business and armed with the necessary vision, he searched for the best logistics solutions for the customer, always promoting inland shipping as a solution and mode. For him, it was apparent that an efficient logistics chain creates added value for the company in question and society. Feel free to call him a visionary of inland navigation whose legacy we must continue. With this chair, we can further professionalise inland shipping with passion, in the interest of mobility, logistics and the climate.” ir. Chris Danckaerts, managing director of De Vlaamse Waterweg nv
“As a large terminal operator within the port of Antwerp, we devote a lot of attention, time and resources to important themes, both for our business and for society. Optimising sustainable forms of transport is one of these themes. PSA's Golden Partnership for this chair is an important commitment that we are making to support our ambition to further deepen our knowledge and expertise in this matter. This partnership also ties in closely with our new learning & development ambitions, whereby we will focus even more on strategic partnerships with universities, colleges, and fundamental research in the future. ” Jan Van Mossevelde, Managing Director PSA Antwerp
“The Antwerp Shipping Association (ASV) sees the establishment of the UA Dennie Lockefeer Chair for fundamental research on intermodal transport as an ideal opportunity to support its members (shipping agents and their principals/shipping companies) in the development of their services. The attractiveness of shipping companies is determined less and less by the efficient and fast crossing of the world's seas or by the ability to connect to the supply chains of the clientele perfectly. And it is precisely in this area that intermodality is a critical success factor. We hope that maritime transporters and their shipping agents, with their worldwide experience in developing intermodal networks, can contribute to the further development of Antwerp as an intermodal spearhead through their participation in the chair. ” Eddy Wouters, Director-General ASV
“We are convinced that strong partnerships between business and the education and academic world are essential to provide answers to societal and economic challenges, such as making the logistics chain more sustainable. Our support to this chair has an extra dimension for us, as Dennie left a strong and lasting mark on intermodal thinking within our organisation during his years at DP World. For us, this partnership is, therefore, both a nice tribute to our former colleague and a very meaningful investment in a sustainable logistics future.” Stijn Meeus, HR Director DP World Antwerp
