About the conference

Given the rapid advances in the CMT research field, the conference is a joint initiative of the European CMT Federation (ECMTF), the University of Antwerp and the newly created European CMT Research Association (ECRA). This initiative complements the CMTR special interest group within the Peripheral Nerve Society (PNS), an international organization of physicians and scientists working together to develop and provide the best treatments for people who have peripheral nerve diseases.

This 2nd European CMT Specialist Conference is expected to attract approximately 150 clinicians, scientists, delegates of patient advocacy groups, representatives of pharmaceutical industries and policy-makers at all levels.

The program will consist of two full days of platform and poster sessions with emphasis on enhancing networking, but also of delivering concrete outcomes. All aspects of CMT, as an inherited neuropathy, will be covered: from basic science to genetic diagnosis and clinical management, therapy development, clinical outcome measures and clinical trials. Data sharing and the use of AI will be given special regard.

A priority for the meeting is mentorship and development of junior scientists and clinicians. To that end, part of the money raised to support the Conference will be used for fellowships for junior attendees as has been done in the past and for a price to be awarded to the best poster, part will be needed to support the meeting organization.
