What is a micro-credential?

A micro-credential is a certificate you obtain through a mini-course. These are short courses on a theme tailored to the needs of the field. You can choose from numerous micro-credentials with different themes, from architecture to politics and from heritage to data analysis.

Micro-credentials

Micro-credentials consist of one or a few course units, possibly supplemented by additional learning content. The scope is expressed in ECTS credits or study credits and varies between 3 and 19 credits. These are part-time, short-term learning packages (of one or two semesters) that you can easily combine with a job. Some micro-credentials support this combination in particular through their flexible working formats (evening classes, online, hybrid or distance learning).

Tailored to the needs of the professional field

Interdisciplinarity and cooperation with the professional field are paramount in the development of new micro-credentials. The courses are designed on the basis of research into the needs of the relevant professional sectors, possibly in cooperation with partner educational institutions and organisations.

European recognised certificate

Learning outcomes are evaluated using transparent standards. If you pass a micro-credential, you will receive a certificate according to a European recognised standard. Some micro-credentials can be combined into broader credentials or qualifications.
