The department attaches great importance to conducting high-quality research, aiming for a balance between theoretical and experimental research on the one hand, and fundamental and applied research on the other. The aspect of community service is also very important to the department.
The research is carried out in different research groups.
Doing a Ph.D. at the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Science is closely intertwined with the research activities of the department. Candidates are expected to build up broad, general, and extensive specific knowledge in the chosen knowledge domain during and after their Ph.D. Independent conduct of research is another requirement. You can do a doctorate in Dutch or in English.
