Quality assurance and figures
At the University of Antwerp, we ensure the quality of our programmes. Every programme goes through a quality assurance cycle of six years.
In year 3, a balance is drawn up of the quality assurance of the programme during internal process monitoring and control. In spring 2020 this took place for the Master of Biomedical Sciences.
Year 6 concludes the cycle with a peer review. The study programme reflects on itself and has a discussions with internal and external experts and an independent student.
On 23 and 24 October 2017 the peer review team visited the Master of Biomedical Sciences and decided to confirm confidence in the programme.
Biomedical Sciences is a well thought out and well-structured programme. The Bachelor programme is structured around 6 learning paths in which students learn about the human body, but also learn to use research and academic skills. The Master programme gives students the possibility to specialize in a certain area. Students can also choose an English Master programme: Infectious and Tropical Diseases or Neurosciences. The peer review team mentions the integrated practice sessions as an asset of the programme. Within an integrated practice session components of different courses are combined and applied in one experiment. The peer review team also thinks the offer of assistance with the study career of students is remarkable. Entering an internship in the Bachelor programme and the long internship of 7 months in the Master programme are a great asset. The review team encourages the programme to keep stimulating students to look beyond university walls and to go abroad for their internship or master thesis. |
