Activities in the month of March are framed by several policy documents and initiatives.

The Strategic Framework Global Engagementwas launched in 2022 following an intensive institution-wide reflection. Among other things, the Strategic Framework focuses on updated perspectives on international partnerships, decolonisation and critical global citizenship. The university chooses to evolve from a narrow focus on poverty in the Global South to a broad focus on multidimensional sustainability and justice challenges.

In 2023, the five Flemish universities signed the VLIR-JA declaration of commitment around ethnic cultural diversity and inclusion in higher education. It concretises the efforts universities can take to further promote ethnic-cultural diversity and inclusion within the fields of student affairs, education, human resources and research at the 5 Flemish universities.
