Registrations 23' - 24' What and How?
Staff members organize themselves into groups based on faculty, background or shared workspaces. As a staff member, you can join your department with colleagues. As a student, you can seek out other enthusiastic students from your residence hall or group of friends to form a team.
The Green Impact UAntwerp Team built an online toolkit with more than 100 concrete actions to make the immediate (work, home and study) environment greener. This is how we make a difference together and this in collaboration with colleagues and students of the University of Antwerp. The actions have a direct link to UAntwerpen's climate strategy, and are divided into the same themes as the working groups of the climate team.
You can decide how much time you put into the project and how regularly you meet with your team. Even a few hours a month can make a difference! Based on the number of actions you accomplish during the year, your team earns a bronze, silver or gold medal at the end of the year!
Both staff and students can register/log in via this link. Not every team member needs to create an account, but only registered members can check off actions on the website!
Explanation of GreenImpact
It's already the 4th year in a row that our UAntwerp-community joins the international GreenImpact-Campaign. Joining means a positive impact, and a smaller ecological footprint for the UAntwerp. Especially now the energy crisis is hitting our society, it's good to feel that we can do it, all together.
Still hesitating? Come and join the monthly talks, and you'll be convinced.
From the launchday on, teams can registrate. During the launch we'll yelp you through it. (Staff members can acquire a code through the pintra platform, for studentteams theire will be a code → both available at the end of this page)
What is Green Impact?
University of Antwerp advocates for more sustainability in your work environment through the launch of the Green Impact UAntwerpen project. Staff and students are encouraged to make a difference themselves. Our university aspires to be climate-neutral by 2030 and calls on everyone to do so. Taking action yourself as a 'small individual' on campus is the reality using the achievable sustainability goals of Green Impact UAntwerpen. This all fits seamlessly with the climate strategy developed by and with colleagues from below, and which is also being worked on policy-wise.
What?
Green Impact, awarded a UNESCO Award for pioneering work on sustainability and behavior change, has been developed over the past decade by the British National Union of Students and is now growing internationally, including at UAntwerpen.
The project has already been used by more than 400 organizations and 20,000 people as a concrete model to bring about bottom-up change. An achievable outcome for the everyday workplace will demand sustainability for higher-ups. The impact on more sustainable households and influence on people around us will leave a green impact. Thus, sustainability suddenly becomes very tangible and the sustainability of the University of Antwerp and around it an achievable goal!
Let's gather as much enthusiasm as possible and set up teams that want to work for a more sustainable world tomorrow!
