Import Regulations

The process of bringing your personal belongings to Belgium depends on whether you are moving from an EU or non-EU country.

Moving from Within the EU

  • You can bring your belongings without customs formalities or import duties due to the free movement of goods within the EU.

Moving from Outside the EU

  • If you have lived outside the EU for at least 12 months, you can bring your belongings duty-free, provided they have been in your possession for at least six months.

  • You must submit a customs declaration and provide an inventory list of your items.

  • A recognized customs representative can assist with the process.
