About YUFE
The ‘Young Universities for the Future of Europe’ (YUFE) alliance consists of ten young research-oriented universities. Together, the YUFE universities aim to fundamentally transform higher education by developing a student-centred, equal, open and inclusive European university. Within YUFE the University of Antwerp coordinates a work package on ‘doctoral & postdoctoral training’.
Position
The role includes, among other tasks, the following assignments:
- You facilitate the general coordination of the work package on ‘doctoral & postdoctoral training’ within YUFE, managed by the head of the Antwerp Doctoral School. To this end, you bring together the YUFE colleagues involved and you enthusiastically encourage them to realise the deliverables of the work package. Moreover, you are responsible for the necessary administrative follow-up and reporting concerning this work package.
- You organise the necessary meetings and events related to this work package (within YUFE, bilaterally, and at UAntwerp), prepare them and create the reports.
- You provide the necessary project documentation in function of the deliverables of the project.
- You are responsible for the internal and external communication about the work package in general and the pilot projects in particular.
- You are responsible for meticulous administrative follow-up (including registrations for training courses etc.).
- You will actively participate in all meetings (often online, but also rotating at one of the YUFE universities) related to this work package and actively seek synergies.
- You ensure the smooth further implementation of the YUFE pilot projects on doctoral & postdoctoral training at the University of Antwerp in close cooperation with the Antwerp Doctoral School and the Talent Centre and other actors involved within the Research, Innovation and Valorisation Antwerp (RIVA) department (including the YUFE4Postdocs coordinator) and more broadly within the university.
- You are committed to ad hoc tasks within the Antwerp Doctoral School and the Research, Innovation and Valorisation Antwerp (RIVA) department.
Together with other internationally oriented colleagues, you are part of the YUFE team at UAntwerp. Moreover, you work in a close team under the coordination of the head of the Antwerp Doctoral School. In achieving the objectives, you take into account the instructions and regulations provided.
Profile
- You hold a master’s degree or equivalent competencies through experience. A doctoral degree is recommended.
- You are familiar with the structures of and developments in Flemish and international higher education (including the formation of European alliances and networks), in particular regarding PhDs, doctoral programmes and the support of postdoctoral researchers.
- You have experience in managing projects and you deliver high-quality results in a timely manner.
- You are proficient in Microsoft 365.
- A good oral and written command of English is essential. Starting with only basic knowledge of Dutch is possible.
- You work in a customer-friendly, honest, creative, quality-oriented, and collaborative manner.
- You have proven planning and organisational skills, and work well independently.
- You are a team player.
- You are flexible in function of priorities.
- You are willing to travel (within Belgium and Europe) as part of your duties and assignments.
We offer
- We offer you a fixed-term employment contract, until 31 December 2026 (with the possibility of extension).
- You will receive a gross monthly salary within the grade range 7.1-9.1 of the Administrative and Technical Personnel salary scales. Your starting grade (usually grade 7.1) depends on your relevant professional experience. For a part-time appointment, your salary will be calculated pro-rata based on the employment percentage.
- You receive meal vouchers, eco vouchers, a group insurance, and a bicycle allowance or full reimbursement of your commuting costs with public transport.
- You can work according to a flexible working hours scheme.
- You have 40 days of holiday and a week of collective closure between Christmas and New Year.
- You will mainly work at Campus Middelheim, in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
