STAN stimulates students to let them make the most out of their student lives. Not just by partying, but by letting them develop their talents to the max. We show them the way through their student lives, share secret tips and at the same time, we are all ears for them when they need us. Moreover we’re doing this mostly together with them. With STAN, we’re putting our students on a stage in the middle of Antwerp. To see them evolve into the most open, powerful, passionate, ingenious, creative and critical human beings that they could possibly be. That is our biggest dream. And we’re convinced Antwerp will be their most glorious partner in crime. Hence our name: STAN, Student & Antwerp.
STAN is a collaboration between the city of Antwerp, the Antwerp universities and colleges and the Antwerp Student Council.
GATE15, a house for and by students
In the historic student district you'll find GATE15. A cozy place where all Antwerp students can meet, study and work together, rent party and study rooms. They can ask all their questions at the information desk, international students can arrange their stay and dorm students claim the upper floors. From academic year ‘24-’25, CABIN will also be housed there, a warm place where you get the mental and physical space to be yourself and develop with an inspiring workshop offer. Because not taking care of yourself is so 2022!
In addition, STAN organizes all STAN projects to give Antwerp students a great time. STAN: that's the nine-strong permanent team surrounded by 40 student employees.
Welcoming international students to the city
Antwerp is a world city! Also for international students and we at STAN know that. That's why at GATE15 we roll out the red carpet for them at the start of the semester. And that includes a tour guide with insider tips to discover a part of Antwerp. There is no better first impression of Antwerp for exchange students.

Study 360, studying with a view
Gone are the days when the study period equaled weeks of solitary confinement in your dorm. Studying together, sharing exam suffering and breaks, has since become a household name for Antwerp students.
This is why, since 2015, STAN has been looking for unique locations to study: all striking spaces, some with stunning views over the city and all gathered under the name STUDY360.
Relaxing in the city
Head out and get some fresh air in one of the city’s many parks, such as the central Stadspark, the sporty Rivierenhof, the playful Nachtegalenpark or the Middelheim sculpture park. You'll find lots of great places to walk, run or play sports – whether it's a fierce game of basketball or a laid-back game of pétanque. Have a picnic with your friends by the Scheldt or stop by Park Spoor Noord, where skaters meet in the spectacular bowl.
Out and about in Antwerp
Be prepared to make some hard choices, because there's always something to do in Antwerp. There are cultural and sporting events in both summer and winter, such as the Zomer van Antwerpen, music festivals, shopping Sundays and various markets and sports competitions. You’ll find cafés and restaurants all over the city, from trendy hotspots to small, cosy hangouts off the beaten track.
StuDay, the welcome event of the year
Antwerp students have known StuDay for years as an unforgettable welcome party at the beginning of the academic year. With StuDay we set Spoor Oost on fire with a mix of four zones. Dance to the hottest beats in the Dance zone and play sports and challenge each other in the Play zone. The Recharge zone is there for relaxing a while and in the Discover zone you can discover what Antwerp has to offer you. And all that on the last Thursday of September! Are you ready for this amazing day?
