The University of Antwerp has three quiet spaces where all students and staff of the University of Antwerp are welcome. Visitors to conferences can also go here.
These places are not linked to any particular religion or belief, but represent pluralism and tranquillity.
What fore?
The quiet spaces are where you can go to pray, reflect or find a moment of silence and peace.

User appointments
The quiet spaces were decorated with great care. We ask each user to use the spaces respectfully. By this is meant:
- Respect silence; the quiet space is not a conversation space or waiting room.
- Respect other users; everyone may and can contemplate simultaneously in the quiet space.
In case of extreme crowding, be courteous and give everyone a chance to reflect in time. - It is forbidden to obstruct other visitors' access to the quiet space.
- Do not eat or drink in the quiet space.
- Do not leave litter behind.
- Do not move furniture or take away furniture.
- Do not leave your own equipment unless neatly and cleanly put away in the cabinets provided for that purpose. The university is not responsible for theft.
- Use the quiet spaces only for those purposes for which they were set up (contemplation, prayer, meditation, etc.).
- For ritual washing, please use the lavatories.
- Corridors and stairwells should be kept completely clear, as well as the fire lanes around the buildings.
- The quiet spaces are available all year round during opening hours. Exceptions to the existing opening hours are communicated clearly and timely by the pastoral care service.
- Only with the permission of stilleruimte@uantwerpen.be it is permitted to hang messages, flyers or texts on the notice boards provided for this purpose.
