To get started with your UAntwerpen student account, you first need to set up your password and afterwards multifactor authentication. We'll go through all the steps together with you.

Create your password

In your enrolment confirmation you received the username of your student account. You can create your password yourself using these instructions:

How to set your password

  • Surf to https://pwreset.uantwerpen.be and enter the username you received on your enrolment confirmation. Your username looks like s02xxxxx@ad.ua.ac.be.
  • A verification code will be sent to your personal e-mail address or your mobile phone number that you provided when you enrolled.
  • Enter the verification code.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to set your password.

Problems setting your password?

Multifactor authentication (MFA)

To optimally protect your UAntwerpen account and our university digitally, we use multifactor authentication (MFA). This means you not only use your username and password to log in, but also an extra factor to confirm your identity before you are granted access.

With your enrolment, we already set up your mobile number as the second factor. After logging in with your password, you will be able to perform multifactor authentication via an SMS code.

We also recommend to use the Microsoft Authenticator app for extra security and for your own convenience. Follow these instructions to install and set up the app.

Download the Microsoft Authenticator app

To download the app, search the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for 'Microsoft Authenticator', or scan the QR code below:

Configure the Microsoft Autheniticator app with your UAntwerp account

Have you downloaded the app? Then you can now link your UAntwerp student account. Follow the steps below, we go through them with you in this tutorial video:

  • open your web browser and surf to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info
  • log in with your UAntwerp username (which looks like s02xxxxx@ad.ua.ac.be) and your password
  • choose the authenticator app for the method you want to set up
  • click on add and follow the steps on your screen to set up the app
  • open the Microsoft Authenticator app and click on the plus icon at the top right
  • choose 'Work or school account' and click 'Sign in
  • in the 'Sign in' screen, log in with your UAntwerp account
  • in the next step, verify your identity via SMS
  • the app sends a code via SMS to the mobile number you gave when you registered
  • then enter the code you receive via SMS
  • your device is now configured to use as an extra factor when logging in
  • the configuration wizard asks you to set up your app so that you can authenticate without your password. This is an optional step that you can skip, but for security and your own ease of use, we recommend activating this 'passwordless sign-in'.
  • as a final step, register your smartphone on your student account
  • choose 'continue' to register your smartphone, log in with your UAntwerpen account and click 'register'.

This last step may take a while, so wait until the registration is complete. Afterwards, you will automatically be directed to the homepage of the Microsoft Authenticator app.
Your device and the app are now ready to use.
