The CINEMATEK holds about 20 lantern devices and a beautiful diverse slide-collection that contains both hand-painted fantsmagoric and astronomic slides and commercial series of well-known German, French and English producers. This last category consists of slides with fairy tales, life models, melodrama and unique photographic images. The acquisition took place in different stages and involved different collectors. A substantial part of the collection was bought in Paris in 1975 and contains hand-painted lantern slides that were used by a French lanternist during the second half of the nineteenth century and the twentieth century.
