This one-day event was organized by C-DaRE, Centre for Dance Research (Coventry University) and the British Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

The impetus for this public debate came from the British Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), who became aware that dance is being underfunded in relation to other disciplines. Through four public debates with dance researchers and practitioners at different career levels, the organizers aimed to address pressing questions, such as: what are the conditions and contexts in which dance research can flourish?; how can dance lead, and not only be in service to other research?; how do we evidence value and the public benefit of dance research?; etc. Various CoDa members (listed below) participated in this event, either as a speaker in one of the conversations or as one of the chairs.

Participating CoDa members: Sarah Whatley, Scott deLahunta, Hetty Blades, Timmy De Laet, Susanne Foellmer, Efrosini Protopapa.
