Diversity and inclusion are inherently part of education at the University of Antwerp. Inclusion, or sense of belonging, means feeling at home and being recognised for who you are. Not only is this a basic psychological need, but it also increases learning, accomplishments and avoids dropout.

But how can lecturers address this? Do you ever think to yourself: "How can I think or act more inclusively in the classroom? What if I say or do something wrong? What should I keep in mind? Is it a lot of work to incorporate inclusion in my courses? And, is it truly necessary?"

The 'Diversity and Inclusion in Education: Inspiring Practices' campaign highlights lecturers who share their challenges, insights and recommendations to inspire their peers. These lecturers share how they make their courses more inclusive by telling us about it in podcasts, videos. These inspiring practices are evidence-based and they provide a general framework that can be adapted to different courses, fields, and lecturer styles.

This comprehensive campaign features inspiring practices about the role of women in science, lecturers who address LGBTQI+ related topics, making diverse students feel at home at the university, and much more. In short, these lecturers are able to make a difference, even with small adjustments.

This website provides concrete testimonies from lecturers about diversity and inclusion in education, about questions such as:
