On April 1st, 2025, the first Diversity and Inclusion Policy Day took place at Stadscampus Hof van Liere. With over 150 participants – students, staff, and policymakers – the day was fully dedicated to shaping the future of inclusive policy at the University of Antwerp.

The Diversity and Inclusion Policy Day provided a valuable opportunity to share the new policy plan broadly, gather feedback, and engage in dialogue about concrete actions toward a more inclusive university.

The day was divided into two parts, each with its own focus. The first part centered on reflection and the exchange of experiences, featuring student testimonials and interactive roundtable discussions on diversity-related themes within our university.

The second part opened with a powerful keynote by Prof. Dr. Orhan Agirdag, in which he addressed structural inequality, multilingualism, and the role of higher education in driving social change.

During the closing panel discussion, students, department heads, and policymakers engaged in a dialogue about responsibilities and future visions for D&I at our university.

The policy plan has now been published, you can view the full plan here. We invite everyone to read it and actively contribute to the implementation of its actions in the coming years, so that together we can make our university more inclusive.
