Vivian Liska

Vivian Liska is Director of the Institute of Jewish Studies, and Prof. em. of German Literature at the University of Antwerp. Since 2013 she is also Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Faculty of the Humanities at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In the fall of 2022 she was Max Kade Visiting Professor at Yale University. She is the editor of the book series “Perspectives on Jewish Texts and Contexts” (De Gruyter, Berlin). Her most recent book publication German-Jewish Thought and its Afterlife. A Tenuous Legacy (2017) has been translated into German (2021) and Hebrew (2023).

Arthur Cools

Arthur Cools is professor in contemporary philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, University of Antwerp, Belgium. He teaches Philosophy of Culture, Contemporary Philosophy (Continental Tradition) and Philosophy of Art / Aesthetics. He publishes in the field of French phenomenological philosophy, philosophy of literature and aesthetics. He recently co-edited Kafka and the Universal (2016), Levinas and Literature (2021) and the special issue Arts, Ontology and Politics in Aesthetic Investigations (2023). His main research interests include the distinction (and the relation) between fiction and non-fiction, personal and impersonal imaginings, selfhood and experiences of estrangement. He is currently working on different themes and challenges of post-humanism and their relation to humanism.

Willem Styfhals

Willem Styfhals is assistant professor at the Centre for Metaphysics, Philosophy of Religion and Philosophy of Culture at KU Leuven’s Institute of Philosophy. He is the author of No Spiritual Investment in the World: Gnosticism and Postwar German Philosophy (Cornell UP, 2019) and Apologie van het Schrift (Grafisch Cel, 2022).
