Abstract
Co-production is a pivotal concept in both the theory and practice of knowledge management and governance, manifesting in diverse forms. Assigning monitoring and data collection tasks to community members and empowering them with oversight roles exemplify community monitoring approaches. This study explores the extent of co-production in community monitoring across the ten African Great Lakes countries. We systematically identified and analyzed 300 such interventions, as detailed in both academic and grey literature. Utilizing an analytical framework derived from co-production and community monitoring and citizen science literature, we examined the objectives, operations, and key actors involved in these interventions.
