Action is needed to mitigate and adapt to the negative impacts of climate change and ensure a sustainable, resilient future. It requires new investment strategies in urban infrastructure, with $6.9 trillion to be invested globally every year to meet the Paris climate commitments, according to the OECD. Although budgets for climate adaptation are rising, there is a significant investment gap for green and blue infrastructure in cities. However, these infrastructures are essential in the fight against climate change. Nature-based solutions (NBS) offer multiple health, economic, social and environmental benefits and can be more cost-effective solutions than traditional approaches.
