LEARN MORE ABOUT BRIGITTA'S RESEARCH

My name is Brigitta Szabó and I am graduated with summa cum laude from Semmelweis University, Hungary as a Doctor of Medicine in 2020. My main interests include cardiovascular medicine and stem cell biology. I have worked on both clinical and basic scientific research projects at the Heart and Vascular Center of Semmelweis University and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences’ Pluripotent Stem Cell Laboratory. Focusing on the latter, I wrote my thesis on the subject of the various applications of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC) and their derivatives with special emphasis on disease modeling using hiPSC-cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs).

Now, I am working on refining hiPSC-CM maturation protocols compatible with high content imaging and high throughput functional assays, as well as improving and validating these assays to enable the comprehensive in vitro stratification of cardiac drug toxicity.
