Cum Laude Yellow

Cum Laude Yellow is the very first non-alcoholic beer from Inglorious brew Stars. Cum Laude Yellow stands out thanks to its fruity touch of citrus. Its slightly bitter flavour palette can be attributed to the combination of three carefully selected hop varieties. This beer is not only tasty, but also deliciously alcohol-free! It is brewed exclusively for the University of Antwerp.

Cum Laude Blue

Cum Laude Blue is a blond, refreshing beer with an aroma of passion fruit, mango and grapefruit.

Cum Laude Red

Its darker brother Cum Laude Red is a dark brown, strong beer with a spicy character. Both are brewed by brothers Benny and Erwin Van Aerschot, alumni and winners of the 'Best hobby brewer of the Low Countries' competition.

Cum Laude as a gift

The ideal gift for all beer lovers or... yourself. Cum Laude and Cum Laude Red are available on the University of Antwerp campuses and come in 33 cl and 75 cl bottles:

Enjoy...

A lot of thought has gone into the production of the beer. UAntwerpen hopes the same will be true about its consumption. Enjoy Cum Laude, but drink in moderation.

The roots of Cum Laude

The University of Antwerp launched its own blond beer in 2015 with Cum Laude.

After the opening of the academic year on 28 September 2017, we first introduced Cum Laude Red. This launch marked the start of a new tradition. 'Every academic year, the dark beer's recipe is adapted,' explains Rector Herman Van Goethem. 'Only a limited supply of each version is brewed. We launch these at the opening of the academic year. The beer is also served at the alumni drinks for recent graduates. That way, each group of alumni gets its own beer.'

Cum Laude 2015
Cum Laude has a fresh finish and subtle notes of hop to give it that extra touch. This way, it manages to stand out from the crowd. In no time, this blond beer became a classic at university receptions. It also scores high as a business gift for domestic and foreign guests.

Cum Laude Red 2017
The success of Cum Laude inspired the university and the Inglorious Brew Stars to launch a second beer: Cum Laude Red. This darker brother of the blond Cum Laude has a red label. The beer gets its special flavour from the addition of nuts at different times during the brewing process. Lightly roasted malts and hints of caramel provide a subtle balance.

The brewers
To create Cum Laude, UAntwerp called on the brothers Benny and Erwin Van Aerschot, alumni and winners of the 'Best hobby brewer of the Low Countries' competition. The twin brothers run their own brewery, the Inglorious Brew Stars, and came up with the Cum Laude recipe.
