Emotional wellbeing
The war in Gaza & the region has a direct impact on the wellbeing of students and staff who have been directly or indirectly affected by loss of family, trauma and pain.
Students in need of psychological support are encouraged to contact STIP, while staff members can seek assistance through the external prevention service.
Students and staff directly affected and interested in participating in a group session with their peers, facilitated by a professional counsellor, are invited to send an email to globalengagement@uantwerpen.be
We also offer assistance to UAntwerp staff and (PhD) students from the affected region who are experiencing trouble obtaining or extending their visa or permits as a result of the war. Please contact us via globalengagement@uantwerpen.be
Respectful behaviour
The war has additionally led to various decisions at the university level, which have been met with divergent reactions, and in some cases, resulted in conflicts among students, staff, and groups. The university maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of discrimination, including antisemitism, Islamophobia or any other inappropriate behavior.
If you witness inappropriate behavior we encourage the university community to intervene and speak up. If you want to learn more, you can follow the active bystander training for staff members.
If you have been a victim of such behavior or have witnessed it, please report it through the designated channels listed below:
