In terms of outreach, STRATEGO aims to foster the dialogue between the academic world and society, including policymakers at all levels of government, civil servant professionals, private sector practitioners, civil society actors, schools and the public at large. In doing so, STRATEGO’s objective is to reach out and promote enhanced understanding of EU governance on sustainable development to the wider society (beyond academia and specialised audiences) and, thus, bring the EU closer to the general public. The STRATEGO Centre will also serve to strengthen existing linkages and create new partnerships with policymakers, public servants, think tanks, and civil society organisations.
STRATEGO envisages several types of activities in coproduction with external partners from other educational institutions, practitioners, and civil society. These activities serve the dissemination of research findings for academic and non-academic audiences, and the interface with stakeholders and the broader public. We envisage lectures and debates involving for instance EU civil servants, diplomats, politicians, parliamentarians and civil servants from different Member States, MEPs, professional organisations, NGOs, regional and local authorities, civil society, etc. Taking these actors on board will guarantee that the different activities will be societally relevant and useful for a broader set of beneficiaries. Several partners of the consortium have experience in hosting outreach workshops (including the coordinator who has organised outreach workshops and has served as guest-speaker and moderator at events for non-academic audiences).
STRATEGO’s achievement indicators for its outreach activities will focus on the organisation of dissemination and communication of research findings and in-house expertise to the academic community, students, practitioners, officials, civil society and the general public. Achievement indicators include the organisation of thematic webinars, signature lectures, outreach workshops, secondary school simulations, and a closing event. Apart from aiming at a considerable number of participants, STRATEGO also aims to achieve diversity in the participants of its activities, reaching both expert and non-expert audiences.
