Technology and Infrastructure
Wastewater engineering is a key research area within the University of Antwerp. We explore novel and sustainable technologies for wastewater treatment and resource recovery from wastewater. BioGEM and DuEL are the two research groups dealing with water technology research at UAntwerp, and are mainly specialized in biological processes.
The scope of wastestreams ranges from domestic (sewage) over industrial to agricultural (manure) or aquacultural streams, be it in end-of-pipe collection systems or in source separation schemes (e.g. black, brown, grey, yellow water).
