An important objective of the SUSTJUSTICE programme is to make participants better lawyers that are ready to play a positive role in society.
To that end, ecological sustainability, diversity and inclusivity were identified as key societal challenges for which we need to prepare future generations of lawyers and with which our teaching has to engage in a much more systematic and profound way. Therefore, the Law & Development research group has the aim to further integrate sustainability competences and inclusive teaching in all courses.

Besides the educational part, the organizers of the SUSTJUSTICE programme try to limit its ecological footprint to the minimum:

All flights of foreign lecturers are being carbon-offset.
All meals provided on SUSTJUSTICE events are vegetarian.
Further, we align the programme with the general sustainability policy of the University of Antwerp.
