The final result of the project consists of a set of context-specific recommendations and a validated evidence-based guideline for more inclusive crisis communication in a pandemic context, to support stakeholders and governmental organisations in the development of strategies for accessible crisis communication in a pandemic context.
For a detailed overlook of these results, as well as a more profound understanding of the project's background, methods and different working packages, the full report can be downloaded here. The final report is only available in English. As the full report is quite extensive, we decided to make an executive summary, which provides a more succinct overview of the project's context, objectives, methods and results. The executive summary is available in English, Dutch, French and German.
The project also resulted in the improvement and development of a number of accessible COVID-19 communication products, including four animated videos about COVID-19 vaccination. The goal of developing these videos was meet all of the different communicative needs of the target groups in one product. The videos thus includes a range of different access services: simple visuals, Easy Language, audio in 8 languages, subtitles in 8 languages, translation into sign language, integration into a single accessible video player and user instructions. The four videos are around 2 to 5 minutes short and each pertain to one of these topics, as decided on by the NCCN:
- how does the vaccine work,
- safety and side effect,
- who, how when and where can you be vaccinated, and
- why choose vaccination.
All four videos, including the sign language versions, can be consulted on this webpage of the Belgian federal website www.info-coronavirus.be. Or follow the link below for some examples.
