Visual material plays a crucial part in characterising the University of Antwerp. With photos and videos, we make our story and our core values visible: connection, innovation, impact and quality. The following tips & tricks can serve as a guideline for creating or selecting visual material. We can boost our identity and reputation by consistently applying these guidelines across all channels.

UAntwerp's core values visualised:

1. Connection

We build bridges and are inclusive. We have respectful and engaging relationships with each other. We have an eye and respect for everyone's talents, their character, their social, cultural and religious background and their personal dreams for the future, and our images radiate this. We show the interaction between students, but also characterise ourselves as accessible and portray the connection between student and teacher.

2. Innovation

Original thinking is key at UAntwerp. By looking at topics from a different angle, we come up with new and surprising insights. Our visual identity also challenges you to think differently. Think of a practical lesson in a unique location, innovative projects involving students (the solar boat), etc.

3. Impact

Those who study or work at UAntwerp don't spend all their time with their nose in a book, but stand at the centre of society. This is also reflected in our images: wherever possible, we show our social relevance. This means that we like to place the social commitment of our students and employees in the spotlight (e.g. students and employees donating blood for the Red Cross, projects initiated by students, etc.).

4. Quality

We work thoroughly and with expertise. This is demonstrated using images with a more serious atmosphere, which includes focused images of students and scientists conducting research with precision and passion, with or without high-tech equipment in the background.

The MediaHaven (image library or Beeldbank in Dutch) of the University of Antwerp contains thousands of photos of everyday life, at and around the university. On Pintra, you'll find a short guide and more information on accessing the MediaHaven and matters of consent. Be sure to read the information on image rights when using any of the images.
