We cordially invite you to the StatUa 2.0 kick-off event on September 5th at 4 pm.

As a methodological core facility of the University of Antwerp, StatUa aims to help researchers with any statistical challenges they may encounter. We provide guidance for any statistical issue in any phase of your study in any academic discipline, all while continuously keeping the research questions, the context of the topic and the researcher’s learning process in mind. Recently, StatUa has gone through some changes and we are happy to announce the kick-off of ‘StatUa 2.0’!

On September 5th at 4 pm in City Campus, aula R.008 and online, we will go through all updates and practical information of StatUa 2.0.

Two honorary invited speakers will give talks:

  • “On the design and analysis of serological data” by prof. Niel Hens

    Abstract. TBA

  • “Pringles, polypropylene, stent adhesives and vaccines: Innovation in food, chemistry and pharma by means of statistically designed experiments.” by prof. Peter Goos

Abstract. Innovation is key in today’s business and industry. In addition, to gain and maintain competitive advantage, the innovation must take place at an ever increasing pace. In this talk, I will discuss how a generic systematic statistical approach, called design of experiments, facilitates and speeds up product and process innovation. Due to its generic nature, successful applications of design of experiments can be found in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, as well as in food and manufacturing. The talk will therefore include examples concerning the search for new recipes of potato chips, an optimal production process for a stent adhesive and optimal settings to produce biomass in vaccine development.

If your research involves statistical challenges – or you might expect such challenges to arise in the future – our kick-off event will be a great opportunity for you to discover how StatUa may be able to help you advance your research and to learn about widely applicable state-of-the-art methodologies discussed by our speakers. Furthermore, the event will conclude with a reception at 6 pm giving you the opportunity to make new connections over a glass of joy or to informally discuss your research methods with the StatUa team.
