​Stephan Van der Veeken

Stephan Van der Veeken holds a PhD in Mathematics (KULeuven, 2010), a master’s degree in Materials Engineering (KULeuven, 2005), and a master’s degree in Economics (KULeuven, 2006). His research focuses on high-dimensional data analysis, outlier detection, and explainable AI, with a particular interest in building classification models from large-scale behavioral data like payment and location data to support decision-making. 

 He is a member of the Applied Data Mining Research Group within the Department of Engineering Management, where he contributes to the development of data mining techniques for practical applications. Stephan also teaches introductory statistics and courses on data science and AI at the Faculty of Business and Economics.
