Microfluidics
To bring novel electrochemical sensors to the field and create real societal impact, electrochemical laboratory methods need to be translated to quick and easy-to-use on-site tests. At A-Sense Lab, we develop novel microfluidic systems to automate the electrochemical analysis: from preparing the buffer solution toward the electrical measurement.
Recently, we developed a dual microfluidic sensor system for illicit drug detection that can automatically bring a sample solution to two different pHs and record two voltammetric fingerprints in parallel to construct a Superfingerprint. The microfluidic system was designed for use by customs and the police. By recording fingerprints at different pH levels, detection becomes more reliable, while minimizing the risk of human errors and keeping analysis time very short.
