March 2017 - Harmony in Bright Colors: Memling's Christ with Singing and Music-making Angels restored
For 16 years a team of conservators and scientists have been involved in the complex conservation treatment of these three large panel paintings that undoubtedly belong to the most monumental works in early Netherlandish art. To celebrate the completion of the conservation treatment, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp organizes a two days symposium in cooperation with the University of Antwerp. The symposium presented a mid-term state of the ongoing Ensor research project, evaluating the present state of technical and scientific findings along with current theoretical, stylistic, iconographical and historical investigations. More information can be found here.
February 2015 - MA-XRF scanning: the Bigger Picture
this conference brought together the people who gained hands on experience with MA-XRF scanning during the previous ‘pioneering years’. The aim of this meeting was dual: (a) summarizing all current applications (types of objects and questions that can be addressed) and (b) discussing pending problems and limitations related to the technique, the software and the instruments active in the field.
