MicroFilament Analyzer

On this webpage you can download the latest versions of the MFA program. MFA stands for MicroFilament Analyzer and is written by Jan Buytaert(BIMEF - UAntwerp), partially aided by Yves Fierens. The program is developed as requested by Eveline Jacques (PGO - UAntwerp). Its purpose is to allow the quantified analysis of microtubules or actin microfilaments. More specifically, we use it to study the cytoskeletal organisation of transgenic GFP leaves and root cells of Arabidopsis thaliana. The program might however be useful in broader fields as well.

Software requirements

  • Windows XP, VISTA or SeVen (32- and 64-bit)
  • MATLAB Component Runtime (MCR) or MATLAB (with Compiler toolbox) ONLY in 32-bit version.
You do not need to install MCR on your machine if you have both MATLAB and MATLAB Compiler installed.
The MCR or MATLAB version should correspond to the MATLAB version used to create the executable.

Install procedure

-First, download, unzip and install the MCR Installer (see below)
-Then, download, unzip and install the MFA programs (see below)
