Our ecotoxicological assays encompass both aquatic and terrestrial environments. ECOSPHERE provides a variety of research tools and services to support and complement our broad technology portfolio. We conduct various aquatic ecotoxicological tests, including classic model organisms across different trophic levels, e.g., Vibrio fisheri, microalgae, Daphnia magna, Artemia franciscana, Danio rerio, and Oncorhynchus mykiss, in both acute and chronic setups. The tests are performed in compliance with the WAC methods (EMIS VITO), as required for environmental assessments by the Flemish government and VITO. Currently, these tests are undergoing ISO-17025 accreditation. Leveraging our broad expertise, we also utilize other organisms both in the lab and in the field, e.g., rotifers, midge larvae, bivalves, and others, as well as vascular plants. We operate in freshwater, brackish (estuarine), and marine environments. In addition to the aquatic niche, we also work on the terrestrial environment using several different organisms ranging from birds to earthworms and microbial communities. All assays can be adapted to specific research questions to best address the problems at hand.
