We specialize in crafting geospatial models, maps and plugins for ecosystem-based water management, ecosystem services assessments, and general spatial planning, utilizing tools like Python, QGIS, ArcMap, and BayesFusion.
One standout tool is the ECOPLAN-SE, an advanced ecosystem services assessment model tailored for the Flemish Region. It evaluates the impact of spatial scenarios on 18 ecosystems, presenting results through figures and map layers, showcasing changes in land cover, land use, soil management, and hydrology. Additionally, it offers a spatial analysis of multi-functionality by statistically analyzing and visualizing bundles of services across the 18 layers.
Our water system maps (in Dutch) facilitate the strategic implementation of water-related adaptation measures, employing flow pattern analysis at various spatial scales.
Furthermore, our high-resolution (5m) groundwater recharge model, with hourly time steps, assesses the impact of vegetation and soil management changes, allowing for the incorporation of adaptation measures such as depressional water storage and infiltration ponds.
Our expertise extends to Bayesian modeling techniques, specifically Bayesian Belief Network models, which excel in modeling complex environmental systems by explicitly addressing sources of uncertainty and their propagation through the network.
