Sustainability assessment
Within the field of sustainability assessment, EMIB has expertise with:
- Ex-ante LCA: How can we incorporate the future in environmental modelling?
- Consequential LCA: What are the environmental consequences of our actions?
- Attributional LCA: What is the current environmental profile of a product or service?
- Life cycle costing: how can we shift the focus from initial cost towards total cost of ownership?
- Techno-economic assessment: how do we ensure that sustainable investments deliver a return?
Sustainability assessments are the expertise of the University of Antwerp service platform B.Cycle:
HVAC and district heating
Within the field of HVAC and district heating, EMIB has a strong domain specific knowledge and a well-equipped lab. Herein, EMIB can be a valorisation partner in software and product specification with respect to the evaluation and development of design and control tools/methods. Besides this specialism in energy in buildings, a broad energy knowledge is present.
Flow and heat transfer
EMIB has the experience and know-how to make designs and do simulations of components in energy systems (heat exchangers, heat pumps) and electromechanical drivetrain systems (electric motor, power electronics, batteries) with regard to flow and heat transfer in these components.
