This project is part of a Concerted Research Action (BOF-GOA) "The genomic and ecological basis of rapid change in a functionally significant trait: osteoderm evolution in a girdled lizard". The project is led by Prof. Raoul Van Damme (Functional Morphology lab). The subproject led by Erik Matthysen will examine ecological drivers of phenotypic variation (osteoderm expression) within and among populations. This will be the subject of a PhD project starting in 2021, co-supervised by Prof. Hannes Svardal (evolutionary genomics) and Dr. Chris Broeckhove (functional morphology).
